The Counseling Department at Greenway High School provides students with educational planning activities over the course of four years. These activities are designed to guide students as they formulate plans for life beyond high school.
9th Grade Activities
- Complete a career interest inventory designed to target some careers for further exploration.
- Develop an educational plan aligned to the student's goals beyond high school. (Parents are included in the development of this plan).
10th Grade Activities
- Complete a short lesson designed to improve the student's test taking skills. The information learned will assist students as they take the PSAT, SAT, ACT, etc.
- Complete "Bridges," a computer program designed to help students further explore their selection of career goals beyond high school.
- Review the educational plan, making changes as needed to reach the student's post-secondary goals.
11th Grade Activities
- Attend a financial aid presentation aimed at juniors.
- Complete the Armed Services Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) aimed at further exploration of a student's career aptitudes and interests.
- Complete "Bridges," a computer program aimed at post-secondary training.
- Review educational plan, making changes as needed to reach the student's post-secondary career goals.
12th Grade activities
- Complete transition activities which prepare students for the "13th year."
- Attend Senior Conferences which review graduation requirements and post-secondary plans.
- Attend Senior Financial Aid Night to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
- If interested, take community college entrance assessment and complete registration for the fall semester.
