Google Expeditions (AR) Program Visits Greenway

Today, April 13th, the Google Expeditions Augmented Reality (AR) program visited our campus to test new technology with some of our students.

Google ARCore uses three key technologies to integrate virtual content with the real world as seen through a phone camera.

-Motion tracking allows the phone to understand and track its position relative to the world.
-Environmental understanding allows the phone to detect the size and location of flat horizon surfaces like the ground or a coffee table.
-Light estimation allows the phone to estimate the environment's current lighting condition.

Students were able to look into a variety of scientific topics such as land formations, animal camouflage, the sun and other planets, bees, and the human circulatory system, and many others.
