Hello My Name Is...
Courtland Peterson

Greenway Dance Department
I possess a sincere passion for the art of teaching dance. The secondary school level has given me an opportunity to combine my love for dance as an art form with an environment that allows me to share my life’s work. I am constantly challenging myself to provide a quality dance education to each student entrusted into my care. I am also greatly fulfilled by watching my high school dancers attain a level of movement and an understanding of dance as a medium of art.
I believe dance education begins with an awareness of self. Through my style of teaching the students are provided with benefits promoting their physicality, creativity, individuality, and sociality. As they develop these skills through exploration, improvisation, problem solving, and technique, they are able to express and communicate ideas, feelings, and concepts.
When students experience movement in a supportive and enjoyable environment, the skills and knowledge gained lead to self-confidence. Students grow to understand that they are responsible for making intelligent choices and that self-discipline is a prerequisite to achievement in dance and in life.
