Mrs. Marich’s Class Rules
2008-2009 School Year
Learning Skills
Greenway High School’s Learning Skills Program is designed to increase student’s low skill areas, increase vocational awareness and assist students in a strong academic performance, which will create a positive attitude towards school and themselves.
Required Materials:
A daily assignment to work on along with needed materials
Pens and Pencils
Grading:
Grades will be given in three ways:
1) You will be given 15 points a day for brainwork. This is a short “thinker” to get you settled and ready for the class!
2) Study time points 35 points will be given for working on assignments from other classes, studying, or organizing yourself for the day.
3) An assignment will be given which will align with basic skills, AIMS skills, or basic life skills. These will vary according to your Individual Education Plans. This is worth 50 points.
Points will be totaled and averaged using this scale:
90 -100 % = 1
80 - 89 % = 2
70 - 79 % = 3
60 - 69 % = 4
0 - 59 % = 5
Online Grades:
Grades will be online using Infinite Campus. I will update grades for my class at least once a week. Information to access this website will be forthcoming.
Absences and Make-up Work:
Missing work in class will have a negative effect on your learning and your grade if not made up promptly. The next day you return after an absence you need to ask for the make-up work. All absences result in a zero until that day’s work is made up. Please contact your counselor if the absence will be more than three days. Make-up work can be requested by a parent. ***I will only go back two weeks for make-up work so ask upon your return.
Citizenship:
This grade is based on the traits of self-control, dependability, cooperation, honesty and respect. Everyone starts with an “S”. A’s and U’s are earned.
Behavioral Expectations:
1) Respect others
2) Behavior is your responsibility
3) Be prepared daily
4) Students will use school appropriate language
5) All handbook rules will be enforced
Consequences:
Step 1 Warning / teacher-student conference
Step 2 Detention and parent phone call
Step 3 Student/Parent/Teacher conference
Step 4 Administrative Referral
***At any time one or all of these steps may be skipped for a severe disruption.
Special Concern:
Cell Phones: My simple rule on cell phones is if I see it or if I hear it, it will be mine until the end of the day. Then it can be picked up in the Attendance Office after 2:45.
