Jenn Fowler Semi-Finalist 2020 teacher of the year

Words of wisdom from Jennifer Fowler, Semi-Finalist for the 2020 Arizona Teacher of the Year Award. Jen teaches 10th-12th Grade English, Ed Professions, and is a Literacy Coach at Greenway High School in the Glendale Union High School District.

“All I have ever wanted to do was be a teacher. I have such a passion and pride for my profession which fuels my mission to make teaching a sought after, respected career choice again. After all, we have the most important job; we are "the profession that makes all other professions" and that should be honored!”

Earlier this year Jennifer Fowler was recognized as Teacher of the Year for Greenway High School. After graduating from Moon Valley, Fowler came to teach at Greenway after she received her bachelor’s degree from Arizona State University and completed her student teaching. Since then, she has earned her master’s degree and most recently finished her required coursework to be recognized as National Board Certified Teacher.

In addition to her English teaching experience, Fowler also educates students in another subject that she is very passionate about.

“Over her 17 year career, Jenn has taught many different levels of language arts at Greenway and has also taken on the Ed Professions program,” Barnes said. “She is the Ed Rising State Advisory Board President, helping to lead this program and inspiring the next generation of teachers.”
