AP Language (Junior Year)

The summer assignment for AP Language reinforces skills students have, introduces them to some new skills and new vocabulary, and requires them to employ the close reading skills that will lead to success on tasks as varied as the SAT, the AP College Board Exam, and university classes.

This class focuses on non-fiction; however, we also look at how fiction is used to create meaning and influence society. In order to help students develop their reading skills, the summer assignment (much like the AP test) asks students to read a wide range of styles, contents, and genres.

All written work will be due the Monday of the second week of school; however, within the first week, students will have a test to determine how well they worked to understand these reading selections.
